StartUp Rutland is a program of the Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR). This policy explains what information we collect through startuprutland.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We collect information you choose to give us, and a small amount of information collected automatically when you visit the site.
Information you provide directly
- Program applications and inquiries — name, email, phone number, business or idea details, and anything else you include when you apply to a cohort (Pathways to Business Ownership, the BRIC Actuator), request funding information, or contact us through a form on this site.
- Event registrations — name, email, and RSVP details when you sign up for a StartUp Rutland event.
- Newsletter and email sign-ups — your email address, and name if provided, if you opt in to receive updates from us.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our server and hosting provider automatically log standard technical information — such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring site — for security and site-performance purposes. We may also use cookies or similar technology for basic site functionality and, if enabled, aggregate analytics.
How we use your information
- To respond to your questions and process applications to our programs, grants, loans, and events
- To administer and communicate with participants in StartUp Rutland cohorts and programs
- To send program updates, event invitations, or newsletters, if you’ve opted in

- Program partners — such as the Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC), Black River Innovation Campus (BRIC), The HUB CoWorks, or other named partners in a program you apply to or participate in, so they can help deliver that program.
- Service providers — the vendors that host this website, process form submissions, manage event registration, and send email communications on our behalf. They only use your information to provide these services to us.
- Funders and grant reporting — where CEDRR is required to report aggregate or participant-level program outcomes to a funder or government agency as a condition of program funding.
- Legal requirements — if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CEDRR, StartUp Rutland, or others.

- Ask us what personal information we hold about you, request a correction, or request that we delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We’ll respond within a reasonable time, though some information (such as records tied to active grant or funder reporting obligations) may need to be retained for a period even after a deletion request.
Children’s privacy
StartUp Rutland’s programs and this website are intended for adults exploring or operating a business. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect the information you share with us. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
